Terms of service

1. The Good George Barrel Ownership program offer is limited in number and your barrel is only guaranteed once we have your John Hancock on this piece of paper. In the new world a digital signature is OK.

2. You are purchasing a spirit that is filled into the selected Barrels and the effective use of the selected barrel up to 5 years. You are the sole legal owner of your share of the barrel. Well done!

3. After bottling or 5 years, whichever is earlier, Good George Distilling has the irrevocable right to purchase the oak barrel from the Owner, with spirit removed, for $1 incl. GST, that is if you don’t want it for a souvenir, memento, keepsake or to use as a raft.

4. A non-refundable $500 deposit is required within 7 days of accepting this agreement. The remaining balance for your barrel is due by the 20th of the following month.

Your barrel (or share) is officially yours once the payment’s cleared in the bank.

5. We will let you know when we are brewing the Whisky and when you can come in for the barrel ceremony within 1 month of acceptance of this agreement, or upon next availability of the Barrel Room.

6. The Owner may choose to bottle in either one or two bottlings when you reckon the whisky is good enough. Bottling is included in the purchase price.

7. The first bottling will be a minimum of 3 years after filling the barrel. The final bottling will be 5 years after filling the barrel.

8. If you want to keep the barrel longer than 5 years, no problem, we will just send you an invoice for insurance and storage every year until you reckon it at it’s best.

9. If you have a Full Barrel, awesome, at the time of the Barrel ceremony, we will work with you to create your logo for the Barrel and the Bottle for your own personalised labels.

10. Government Excise Tax is due upon bottling and is payable by the barrel owner(s) if you are a New Zealand Resident. There is also additional GST on the excise tax, go figure. What will it be in 5 years time? Email this dude askgod@god.com

Good George will pay the excise duty to NZ Customs on your behalf.

11. GST payable on the barrel purchase is included in the cost of your share in the Barrel

12. The size of the “Angel’s Share”, or natural evaporation during maturation is a mystery and as we don’t know what it will be at this time in the mighty Tron, it will be a surprise! Our calculations indicate this may be approximately 4%

14. We will keep you up to date with your barrels development with tasting notes.
